Mommy, mommy, mommy! You know, one day, I will miss the consitent call of that name. Right now though it's driving me crazy! Callie says my name when she's sad, happy, or just plain bored!
Today, Steve took Bradley out on his bike without training wheels! Bradley did a pretty good job. He is so much like me though. He's always trying to be super cautious and is afraid of getting hurt. I'm glad that he is careful, but I hope that does not hinder him when it comes to playing sports or whatever he chooses to do. My cautiousness hindered me growing up some because I was too afraid to try. I hope Bradley takes some courage lessons from his Daddy.
Last week, Bradley was learning how to hop on one foot. He was trying to hop on one foot up and down the back porch cement steps at Grandmas when he fell and smacked his chin on the cement. The cut was so deep and Bradley was so upset. All he wanted was me to hold him, comfort him, hold the rag against his chin so it would stop bleeding. Steve and I ran to the insta-care for stitches. Bradley's first stitches! Poor guy! He did such a good job and held so still after they numbed him up. The doctor was a war veteran. He told me that I would be surprised how many men he treated coming in as casualties that called out for their mother when under pain medication or anesthetics. Whether 4 or 18 boys will still always find comfort in their mother.
That comment made me think a lot. I hope that I can be such a great influence on my son that he will always want to find comfort from me even at an older age. It made me want to be a little more loving, a little softer, and a little more fun so that my 4 year old will forever want to hang out with me and love me as much as I love him!
